About the award
概要
Purpose
The Joining and Welding Research Institute at Osaka University (hereinafter designated as the “JWRI”) commends researchers who have contributed outstanding international achievements in the science of joining and welding and who have contributed significantly to the development of joining and welding science. The Institute also commends young and talented researchers who have made international achievements in the science of joining and welding and who can be expected to contribute to the future development of science. In doing so, the Institute reinforces the further development of joining and welding science.
Eligibility
Candidates for the Joining and Welding Science Award must be researchers who have long been engaged in research on joining and welding. Candidates for the Young Researcher Award in Joining and Welding must be researchers who are younger than 40 as of January 1st of the awarding year and who are engaged in joining and welding research. However, those who are over the age of 40 and have been unable to be engaged in research for a period of time for unavoidable reasons such as childbirth, childcare, nursing care, etc., may become candidates, excluding that period.
Achievement evaluation
Achievements to be evaluated shall be those recognized as achievements that have contributed meaningfully to the development of joining and welding science in all earlier achievements (e.g., academic papers, books, inventions) in joining and welding-related research. The JWRI shall establish a Selection Committee for the Joining and Welding Science Award to select award nominees.
