AIMS AND SCOPE:

Interface characterization and control are key issues in the design and manufacture of high quality advanced materials, especially where nanotechnology applies. Interfaces are studied in many different fields of science. They are important to different fields in materials technology and hence to a broad spectrum of industries. However, an in depth understanding of interfaces with regard to structure and composition and their influence on material properties is still lacking. Many industries would benefit considerably from an improved understanding and control of interfaces. This conference will therefore feature state-of-the-art interface characterization and control technology, and will provide an international forum for scientists from both academia and industry from a variety of disciplines to discuss interface science and technology. The main topics to be discussed include:
Characterization of Interfaces in Particulate Materials
    -Interface characterization
    -Solid-liquid interfaces in Suspensions
    -Interfaces at elevated temperatures
    -Standards of characterization techniques
Control of Interfaces in Particulate Materials
    -Control of surface and interfaces
-Control and design of interfaces in suspensions
-Control of interfaces at elevated temperatures
Interfaces in High-Technology Fields and Industries
-Nanoscale design of interfaces for new materials
    -Ceramics, Metals
    -Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, CMP, Pigments etc.
    -Energy and Environment

LOCATIONS:
The conference will be held in Kurashiki, a beautiful historical city. Many tourists like to visit Kurashiki, especially in autumnal season. Kurashiki is located within 2 hrs. (by bullet train) from Kyoto, Osaka, and Kansai International Airport.
